Client could not read a GPO file from SYSVOL

What it means

The client could not reach \\domain\SYSVOL. Causes: wrong DNS, stalled SYSVOL replication, NTFS permissions.

First steps

  1. 1From the client: dir \\domain\SYSVOL — does it work?
  2. 2Verify client DNS points at a DC, not the router.
  3. 3On the DC: dfsrmig /getmigrationstate and Get-Service DFSR.
